Holiday of a Lifetime
The Glow-worm Mystery Trip has always proved popular. This year, as installers continued to work hard throughout the pandemic to ensure the nations’ homes remained warm and running efficiently, the idea of packing your bags and heading off into the sunset, felt even more important.
That is just what 45 lucky Glow-worm Club Energy installers who secured their place on the 2021 Mystery Trip have done, by doing what they do best - fitting boilers. Having just returned from the holiday of a lifetime to the luxurious island of Mauritius, Steve Cipriano, Commercial Director for UK & Ireland at Glow-worm, caught up with some of those on the Mystery Trip to find out what it meant to them, ahead of the reveal of the 2023 targets and destination.
So, with their tans yet to fade and memories fresh in their minds, here’s what they had to say...
How did you get involved with the Mystery Trip?
Mark Derry, an installer from Paul Derry Ltd commented: “I’ve installed Glow-worm boilers for a long time now, and they are an excellent product to fit. When I found out I could be in with a chance of winning a place on the Mystery Trip for my partner and I by just doing my normal day job, it was a no-brainer! After signing up to Glow-worm Club Energy, I received my personalised target. Then, it was just a case of installing Glow-worm boilers and watching the number of points I earnt grow with every job.”
How did you feel when you found out you’d won a place on the Mystery Trip?
Michael Abbott, an installer from Relyon Gas Services Ltd, said: “When I found out I’d secured two tickets by hitting my personalised target, I was so excited! Then to find out we were heading to Mauritius was just the cherry on top. The Mystery Trip has been incredible, we’ve been given the real five-star treatment from start to finish, from drinks on arrival at the hotel to the exclusive catamaran trip to a private island.
“For me though, being able to share it all with fellow installers has been brilliant, it really has been the trip of a lifetime and one I’ll certainly never forget!”
Was there a standout part of the trip?
Paul Donnelly, an installer from Eco Gas Services Ltd commented: “There were many highlights on the trip, but one of my personal favourites was when we were on the glass bottom boats and the catamaran where we got to see dolphins and explored the reefs. We then went for dinner on the island and watched the sunset. Some of us were then taken to “Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club” for a private golfing experience surrounded by a shimmering turquoise lagoon. Everything was perfect.”
Brian Ham an installer from BLH commented: “The Glow-worm Mystery Trip completely exceeded all our expectations. From the destination, the activities planned for each day and the other installers we got to share the trip with, this has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I’ve travelled all over the world!
“From start to finish, the whole trip was brilliant, and I loved every minute. From learning about the culture and the site seeing, swimming in the ocean, watching the dolphins and seeing the sunset, to dining on the beach front while watching the Mauritian people singing, dancing, and fire breathing, the whole trip blew me away.”
Would you recommend the trip to other installers?
BLH Andy Bryson, an installer from Bryson Gas Services commented: “Definitely, not only are Glow-worm boilers a great product to fit, the Mystery Trip also gives you something to work towards and by being able to take your partner along with you, it makes it extra special!”
Why is the Glow-worm Mystery Trip so important?
Spencer Clark, Commercial Director for UK & Ireland at Glow-worm said: “The Mystery Trip is the highlight in the Glow-worm calendar. Not only does it see us fly hard-working Club Energy installers to some amazing destinations, but it’s also our way of being able to give something back too and thank them for their continued loyalty.
One of the highlights of the trip was being able to get everyone back together again, the past couple of years have been tough for the Glow-worm installers, continuing to keep customers homes warm during lockdown and working throughout the pandemic, and something like the Mystery Trip makes it all worthwhile.”
